I listened to three albums of Haken and leveled up as a person
Wow.
Today is a Bandcamp Friday, meaning that the store takes no cuts for purchases done today, and all the money goes to the artists (and labels, and payment processors...). It's a very nice nudge to support artists directly, and I applaud them for it.
I started the day strong by bying an album from Threshold and a couple from Brothers of Metal, to which I had a head-banging workday.
I then stumbled upon Haken's artist page, and it stuck in my head for a while. I've always liked their songs, but only ever dabbled - streamed one song here, an album there, while working. I had a listen to 'The Alphabet of Me' and 'Prosthetic' and thought "fuck it, it's Bandcamp Friday" and bought Fauna, Virus and Affinity.
For the next four hours I played through each of them, in that order, and had a nearly religious experience - I can't even remember when was the last time I enjoyed music so much.
During the playtime I cooked one of the best 'tofu paneer's (or is it palak tofu?) I've ever done, had a supportive discussion with the spouse, took a walk, chatted with the parents and felt all around energetic and emphatic. I felt stronger about my convictions but also more understanding of those who see things differently. I came up with an idea for a company and felt capable and motivated to forge ahead.
And also I started doing something I never thought about doing - writing a blog post about life - this post. And I'm going to publish without reading it through or stressing about it.
Can't wait for playthrough number 2 😅
